How It Works
Does the fitting price include handles and locks?
It depends on what is agreed in the quote. Some jobs cover hanging only; others include the full hardware set. The itemised quote lists each element separately, so you can see exactly what is and is not included before work starts.
Is a sticking door always worth replacing?
Not always. A door that sticks due to seasonal swelling or a loose hinge can often be trimmed or adjusted. A warped, cracked, or structurally damaged door usually needs replacing. The installer assesses this on site and sets out both options in the quote.
Do replacement external doors need to meet Building Regulations?
Yes. Replacement external doors must meet Part L thermal performance requirements under Building Regulations. Where the door includes glazing, FENSA certification may also apply. The installer ensures the fitting meets these requirements as part of the job.
What happens if I delay replacing a poorly fitting external door?
A door that does not seal properly lets in draughts, raises heating costs, and can make the lock harder to engage over time. A frame that is already damp or soft will deteriorate further, making the eventual repair more involved and more costly.
Will a new front door reduce draughts?
Yes, if it is fitted correctly. A new door hung without proper perimeter sealing can still let cold air through. The installer seals the full frame perimeter on external doors, which is what eliminates the draught rather than the door alone.
